Volunteer Opportunities

Do you feel a tug in your heart to serve abused children at our local camp?
There are many ways that you can help create a positive memory in the life of a child!

Start by liking our Royal Family KIDS Sioux Empire facebook page,
then read the following descriptions of some of the valuable ways you can be involved one day or all the days of camp!

Guides

At Royal Family KIDS Camp, we call our Camp Counselors Guides because quite honestly, our campers already have plenty of other counselors in their lives. The primary role of a counselor is to care and cheer for their campers as they walk alongside them through the daily activities of camp. This role requires energy, patience, love, and a willingness to look beyond your own needs in order to wholeheartedly serve the children in your care. For every Guide willing to spend the entire week at camp, two additional campers are able to attend. Training is mandatory. Guides arrive at camp the day before the campers to prepare the cabins and welcome the campers as they arrive. Each Guide is responsible for 2 campers in order to provide the very best care for our campers.

Support Staff

The different areas involved with being on staff at our Royal Family KIDS Camps include Kitchen Staff, Nurse, Licensed Counselor/Social Worker, Life Guard, Drama, Music, Woodshop, Event Coordinator, Fisherman, Grandpa and Grandma, Cinderella, Activities and more. While the Guides spend most of their time with their 2 assigned campers, staff members have the opportunity to interact with more of the kids. Training is mandatory.

Part-time Volunteer Opportunities

Do you have a favorite hobby or skill. Each morning at Royal Family KIDS Camp we offer learning opportunities for our campers. These have included paracord bracelet making, dance, canvas painting, tennis, soccer, taekwondo, guitar, cooking, computer crashing and many more! If you have a skill that you’d like to share, please contact us!

Birthday Party & Special Events

One night of the week at Royal Family KIDS Camp, we celebrate every child’s birthday with a party in their honor. Past parties have included pony rides, astrojumps, inflated obstacle courses, balloons, clowns, petting zoo, cookie decorating, slip-and-slide, and fun birthday games. Of course there is always cake, ice cream and even a present just for them! More help is always needed with all these events going on. Other night events have included Messy Games Night, Medieval Madness, Jungle Safari, and a Royal Feast amongst others. This is a great way for clubs and businesses to get involved. All volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.

Training Hosts

Training is mandatory for all Volunteers and Royal Family KIDS Camp Guides spending the week at camp. We are always looking for great cooks and hosts to help make the training fun for our amazing volunteers!

Registration

Those assisting with registration for Royal Family KIDS Camps do not attend camp but are vital in welcoming our campers to this new experience. They will assist the director and other staff in checking campers in and loading them onto the bus. Many kids are often nervous and frightened and your smiling face will be the first one they see, before they even drive up to the camp.
